MEET THE MAKER
Hello I'm Fiona
FionaEhnArt is a business that started in my studio in the rural settlement of Waitoki, just north of Auckland. I’ve always loved painting, designing and creating. As a child I was constantly making something or working on a new project and I’ve just never stopped.
My main creative practice is painting - capturing predominantly living forms. Having a great love of animals, you’ll find a large collection of my work depicts people’s pets (including my own), the local New Zealand birdlife and living rurally, a cow or two. What draws me to them is their eyes.
I’ve also always been drawn to women’s fashion and styling which has led me to explore collections of female characters – from whimsical girls to the style icons of earlier eras.
My collections specialise in unique mixed media artworks created with loads of texture, bold colours and a quirky and upbeat twist. They are perfect for those searching for that little something special, those who value locally made products, original designs and high-quality product standards.
I hope you’ll find something in the shop that brings a smile to your face. If you are interested in anything contact me or look out for my work in local community exhibitions and on my Facebook and Instagram pages.
Commissions welcome.

THE PROCESS
My creative process mostly takes place at my home studio on our 5 acre magical block in the beautiful Rodney countryside and ideas are fuelled by my other passion - Travel!
I try to paint or create as much as I can. It typically takes me loads of thinking time to crystalize my concepts and a few days to complete each work - but once I start it's often hard to put the paintbrush down.
While painting is my predominant practice I also love other forms of making:
Acrylic Mixed Media
Pieces are predominantly created in mixed media, a technique involving layering, creating textures and use of well really - anything to create more interest. To find out more, follow my blog as I share some of my tips and tricks
Hand Screen Printed
All fabrics are manually stencilled and screen printed by hand using good old fashioned printing techniques. Sometimes screen printing is used in my paintings, but I usually print on fabric and use in my cushion ranges or work into one-off pieces of clothing
Hand Finished
Textiles are carefully sewn in the Rodney studio ... and finished to last
